Through edible garden consulting, custom garden planning, project management, coaching, and hands-on food preservation instruction, I help you understand what to grow, how to grow it, and what to do with the harvest once it starts showing off.
At The Gardens at SmallMeadow, the goal is not to hand you a cookie-cutter raised bed plan and send you on your way. It’s to help you create a productive, personal, and practical edible garden that works for you — not one that drains your time, budget, or sanity.
With a focus on permaculture-minded design, subsistence crops, natural growing methods, and hands-on education, every service is designed to help you build skills, confidence, and a stronger relationship with your food.
Best For: Beginner gardeners, overwhelmed growers, or anyone who needs expert eyes on their space before making decisions.
This on-site consult is where we walk your space together, talk through your goals, and look at what your garden actually needs based on your location, lifestyle, sunlight, budget, and any limitations we need to work around.
You’ll receive practical advice and suggestions to help you move forward with more clarity. If you want continued support after your consult — or already have a garden and just need help troubleshooting — monthly coaching gives you a steady place to ask questions, work through pain points, and stay on track.
Includes:
On-site garden consult, space review, goal discussion, personalized recommendations, one follow-up visit, and optional monthly coaching.

If you want to build your garden yourself but need someone to tell you exactly what makes sense, this is your path. After your consultation, you’ll receive a custom edible garden plan designed around your space, goals, materials, and growing needs.
This gives you the clarity to move forward without wasting money on random plants, unnecessary supplies, or garden setups that look cute but don’t actually function.

Consultation, custom garden layout, recommended materials, plant suggestions, sourcing guidance, and seasonal planting direction.
Investment:
$350
Best For: The person who has the plan but does not have the time, bandwidth, or desire to coordinate all the moving pieces.

Questions & Answers
At this time, The Gardens at SmallMeadow serves Fort Worth and nearby surrounding areas only.
I rent or only have a balcony. Can I still grow food?
Absolutely. Food can be grown in containers, vertical setups, small raised beds, or other compact spaces. Your plan will be based on what your space can actually support.
Will my garden look like every other raised-bed garden online?
Nope. Your garden is designed around your space, goals, lifestyle, and needs. Raised beds may be the right fit — or containers, in-ground planting, vertical gardening, or a mix of everything.
Can you build and maintain the garden for me?
The Gardens at SmallMeadow is built around hands-on learning, not full-service maintenance. Project support may be available for setup, but the goal is to help you learn how to care for your garden yourself.
I’m busy. How much time does an edible garden take?
Your garden will be designed around your actual life — your schedule, space, budget, and maintenance comfort level. The goal is to create something you can realistically care for, not something that takes over your weekends.
Do you teach me how to garden, or do everything for me?
Teaching is the main focus. You’ll get guidance, recommendations, and a plan you can understand so you feel confident growing your own food. If you need extra help, monthly coaching is available.
When Patti first started creating her own food forest, she made just about every mistake possible. She followed advice, tried modern shortcuts, and learned the hard way that what works for one garden may completely wreck another.
That’s why every consult starts with your actual space, your goals, and what your garden is telling us — not a cookie-cutter plan from the internet.
Not every bug, fungus, or leaf issue needs the same treatment. Patti helps you identify what is happening before you accidentally harm the beneficial insects, plants, soil, or microbiome your garden needs.
Mistake One
A garden full of only tomatoes might sound dreamy, but pests love a buffet. Patti helps you build a more balanced garden with plants that support each other and work better together.
Mistake two
The right soil depends on your space, growing method, location, and goals. Patti helps you understand whether raised beds, in-ground growing, amendments, or a different setup makes the most sense before you waste money on the wrong foundation.
Mistake three
Growing your own food does not have to be reserved for people with acres of land, endless free time, or picture-perfect raised beds. It can start with one consultation, one plan, one balcony, one corner of the yard, or one stubborn little seedling that makes you ridiculously proud.
